RAW MATERIAL
Our canned light tuna is made with Yellowfin or Ahi tuna (Thunnus albacares). These fish can measure up to 2 meters (78.7 inches) and weigh up to 200 kilograms (440 pounds). They have a robust, scaly body that tapers gently to the tail. Their distinctive yellow fins allow them to be easily distinguished from other species of the same family.
This migratory fish is caught by large boats in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. It is frozen on board to preserve its quality until it arrives at the factory, where it is processed and canned.
It gets its name from the light color of its flesh.
